After completing its Commissioning and Survey Validation phase, on May 17 the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) officially entered into “a five-year quest to map the universe and unravel the mysteries of ‘dark energy’“.
The video below shows about 30 thousand of the first galaxies measured by DESI, only a small fraction of the tens of millions of galaxies and other distant objects in the universe that will allow the DESI collaboration to construct a detailed 3D map of the universe.
