Stereoscopic Flight Through DESI Year 1 Data

Fly and pan around through 14.7 million galaxies in this visualization of DESI’s first year of observations created by Fiske Planetarium. Full screen viewing and changing the quality to higher resolution is recommended!

DESI Focal Plane Panorama

This visualization of the DESI focal plane shows the 5,000 robotic “eyes” that observe DESI targets to create the largest 3D map of the universe ever made. Pan, zoom, and click on the red boxes to learn more. You can also explore full screen in a new browser window here.

DESI3D

This interactive 3D visualization shows about 30,000 galaxies observed by DESI over roughly five hours, and was created by DESI member David Kirkby of UC Irvine. Check out this blog post to learn more about the science behind this visualization. It can also be accessed in its own browser window here.
